Müller argues that it does so by Jan-Werner Müller, a professor of politics at Princeton, explores those questions and their significance in his new book, “ What Is Populism ?” (University of Pennsylvania Press). Müller, a Princeton faculty member since 2005, specializes in democratic theory and the history of modern political thought. Right from the start, in the introduction, Müller affirms that populism is in essence “anti-pluralistic” (p.3) and represents the “ [true] danger for democracy” (p. 6). He thus sides with the authors who try to define the term in order to radically combat the phenomenon thus defined.
